$25,000 fellowships for US-based artists, writers, scholars, journalists, performers, activists, workers, and others with compelling ideas for public initiatives.

Up to $25,000 grants to individuals around the world leading campaigns that assemble their communities in service of furthering democracy, equity, and justice.

Left Field Fund

For project ideas that don’t fit our funding programs—but fit our mission—and can be executed for $5,000 or less. The Left Field Fund Committee meets every two months to review 250-word proposals. Proposals should include a high-level budget.

  • Recipients of support who are affiliated with Columbia University will receive no indirect support.

    Recipients of support (university or non-profit organizations) who are not affiliated with Columbia University may request no more than 10% of indirect cost.

  • The Indirect Cost rate for external recipients will be the rate established by the external funder.
